This French Jeannette-style cross makes a simply stunning large pendant. What is a Jeannette cross? Read below for some history. From Les Bijoux des Francais website: "The Jeannette crosses were worn throughout France, and particularly in the regions that had not adopted a unique cross of their own. They were inexpensive, being generally of silver or of hollow, stamped gold, even gold-plated. Often produced in Paris, they were resold by local jewellers or by traveling salesmen who set up stands at the local fairs and religious gatherings.
The name croix Jeannette, is said to come from the fact that they were often bought by young girls with their first pay advance on the day of the fête of Saint Jean, the day when traditionally they would renew their contracts or go into service for the first time. Some of the crosses are plain on both sides while others have a facetted finish on one side, made to resemble a cross that has been roughly hewn with an adze. It is possible that this more sparkling side was worn outwards on Sundays and for special occasions, or perhaps the less sparkling side was worn to church. There are dozens of different designs for the central square or circle; that of a flower is the most popular and the design is often different on the other side."

Carson's Cove Metals and Finishes
Carson's Cove (CC) finishes are achieved with high-quality plating done by family-owned businesses in the United States. We do our best to maintain consistent finishes, but due to the nature of plating, there may be slight differences between batches.
All Carson's Cove "12k Antiqued Gold" finish components are plated with real 12k gold, and then antiqued. They are all the same gold, but highly textured pieces may look a bit different than smooth pieces because the texture captures more of the antiquing elements. Why 12k gold? Because 12k gold is a light, neutral gold without an orange tone, and it looks beautiful on every skin tone!
CC "Antiqued Silver" finish differs from "Antiqued Pewter" finish in that the silver finish is brighter and lighter than the pewter finish. However, many designers mix and match the two.
CC pewter components are made of high-quality pewter that is free of lead and cadmium. Most CC chain is made of regular steel, and some is made of brass. It is then plated with the various CC finishes. CC plating is known to hold up very well over time, but as always with any plated items, we recommend keeping it away from water and perfume.
